Misphits

Miphits is a celebration of the misfit, the underdog, and the obscure. In a time of corporations and labels, a look back in time to the punk era, and then the grunge era, puts the looking glass on the corporate exploitation of sub cultures. Through subject choices and materials, the exhibition more closely points it’s finger towards fashion and it’s production. Looking into modern times, the exhibition focuses on Amanda Lepore, a famous transgender model, as its modern day “Punk” hero. She, like the punk jacket, represents the sometime audacious nature of the movement.
